The Pedodontics or Paediatric Dentistry is the field of dentistry dedicated to the oral infants, children and adolescent’s health, encompassing knowledge about the various stages of growth and development of the child, acting in each one of them, according to the individuality of each patient.
Conducting preventive treatments, education and motivation for oral hygiene, reaching adulthood with a healthy oral condition, both functional and aesthetic level.
The first dentition, although temporary, is as important as permanent teeth, because it allows the proper development of speech, chewing, space maintenance and alignment of permanent teeth. It is still important in the development of self-esteem of the child.
The first visit to the dentist should take place from the time the first teeth are born, usually between 6 months and 1 year old.
